That Bill Evans, he sure was something with that piano. Heard him on the radio, oh, long time ago. But those glasses, I tell ya!
Bill Evans, that piano player fella, had these glasses, see? Big ol’ things. Made him look like a, like a smart owl or somethin’. But those Bill Evans glasses, they were somethin’ else.
Bill Evans Glasses, Oh My!
He wore ’em all the time, I reckon. On them album covers, playin’ that jazz music. Made him look real serious, like he was thinkin’ real hard ’bout them piano keys. I remember seeing him wearing those glasses on the “Portrait in Jazz” album. It’s like they were a part of him, like his hat or his shoes. Can’t picture him without ’em, no sir.
And you know, them glasses, they weren’t no ordinary glasses. Big and round, thick frames. Bill Evans glasses were a statement, that’s what they were. Like he was sayin’, “I’m here, I’m smart, and I’m playin’ this here piano.”
- He wore them glasses all the time.
- Big and round, they were.
- Made him look smart, they did.
- Everyone knew those were Bill Evans glasses.
Playing That Piano
He sure could play that piano, though. Bill Evans, with them glasses on, fingers flyin’ over them keys. Music just poured out of him. Made you wanna tap your foot, maybe even shed a tear or two. He had that way about him, you know? Quiet, serious, but that music, it spoke volumes.
They say he learned to play that piano when he was just a little tyke. Classic music and whatnot. Then he got into that jazz. I heard he even went to school for music for a long time, a real smarty pants. Must have, to play like that, right? Maybe that’s why he wore them Bill Evans glasses, to show how smart he was.
He likes them big ol’ pianos, the long ones. Steinway, I hear ’em sayin’. Six feet long, maybe more! Big piano for a big sound, I guess. And that Bill Evans, with them glasses perched on his nose, he made that big piano sing.
Those Thick Frames
I remember folks talkin’ ’bout them glasses. “Did you see Bill Evans’ glasses?” they’d say. “Thicker than a brick, them frames!” And they were, too. But they suited him, somehow. Made him look distinguished, like a professor or somethin’.
Nowadays, you see all these young folks with them fancy glasses. Thin frames, different colors. But back then, Bill Evans glasses, they were somethin’ special. Unique, like his music. I think they were called Moscot or something. I reckon that is a fancy name for glasses. They were part of his, his image, you know? Like how you always see that fella on TV with them, with the, whatchamacallit, the bow tie.
Bill Evans, Remembered
Bill Evans, he’s gone now, bless his soul. But that music, it lives on. And them glasses, well, they’re part of the legend. You see a picture of him, and you know it’s him, right away. Them big ol’ Bill Evans glasses, they’re a reminder of that special kind of music he made.
So next time you hear that Bill Evans music, take a minute to picture him. Sittin’ at that big Steinway piano, them glasses on his nose, fingers dancin’ over the keys. He might be gone, but that music and the memory of his glasses, they’ll be around for a long, long time.
That’s all I got to say about that. These Bill Evans glasses were one of a kind.
