Okay, here’s my blog post about getting a Brazilian wax, based on my personal experience:
So, I finally took the plunge and got a Brazilian wax. I’ve been thinking about it for ages, and with summer coming up, I figured it was time. It’s something I’ve always been curious about, but also kinda scared of, you know? Anyway, here’s how it all went down.
Getting Ready
First things first, I made sure my hair down there was the right length. They say it should be about a quarter of an inch long, like a grain of rice. If it’s too short, the wax won’t grab it properly, and if it’s too long, it’s gonna hurt more. I trimmed a bit a few days before to get it just right, felt like I was preparing for a big event! I also made sure to exfoliate the area a day or two before. Just a gentle scrub in the shower to get rid of any dead skin cells. This helps prevent ingrown hairs, which are the worst.
The Appointment
I was pretty nervous when I walked into the salon. The lady who did my wax was super nice and professional, which helped a lot. She led me to a little room and told me to undress from the waist down and hop on the table. There was a sheet there to cover up with, which was a relief. I decided to keep my mind clear, so I did not wear any lotion or oil. And I took a shower before heading to the salon, to make sure I am clean enough.
The Waxing Process
She started by cleaning the area with some kind of pre-wax solution, and then she applied the warm wax. It wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be, which was good. Then she put a strip of cloth on the wax and pressed down firmly. Here comes the exciting part, she ripped off the strip!
- The first rip was definitely the most painful. I won’t lie, it stung! But it was over quickly.
- She kept going, applying wax, pressing down with the cloth, and ripping it off. Each time she ripped, she immediately pressed down on the skin with her hand. I read somewhere online that this helps to dull the pain, and it really did work. It’s like your nerves get confused or something.
- It took about 30 minutes in total. The most sensitive parts were definitely the, um, inner areas.
Afterward
After she was done, she applied a soothing lotion, which felt amazing. She told me to avoid hot baths, saunas, and exercise for 24 hours, and to wear loose clothing. She also recommended exfoliating again in a few days to prevent ingrown hairs.
Overall, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It definitely hurt, but it was manageable. And the results are totally worth it! I feel so smooth and clean. I’m definitely going to keep doing it. If you’re thinking about getting a Brazilian, I say go for it! Just make sure you’re prepared and follow the aftercare instructions. Hope this helps someone out there!
