Alright, folks, let’s talk about something we all love but probably don’t do enough of – moving our bodies! Today, I wanna share my journey on getting more athletic. Not to become some super athlete, just to feel better, stronger, and have more energy.
Getting Started
First off, I started slow. I’m no spring chicken, and I didn’t want to hurt myself. So, I started walking. Yeah, it sounds basic, but it’s effective. I just started with around a few walks in a week, nothing crazy. I tried to increase my heart rate every time I went out. I had to do something to control my weight, you know?
Increasing Intensity
After a while, walking became too easy. I felt like I could do more, so I upped the game. I started with some bodyweight stuff.
- Push-ups: These were tough at first, but I started with knee push-ups and worked my way up.
- Squats: These are great for the legs and butt. I made sure to keep my back straight to avoid any injuries.
- Planks: Oh boy, these are killer for the core. I started with 30 seconds and slowly increased the time.
I also added in some light jogging. I’m not a fan of running, but it’s good for the heart, you know? I aimed for two jogs a week, just 20-30 minutes each time.
Trying New Things
Once I got comfortable with the basics, I decided to spice things up. I joined a local gym, mainly for the classes. They had everything – yoga, Zumba, even some martial arts stuff. It was fun and kept me motivated.
I also tried to join my friends for some pickup basketball games. I’m terrible at it, but it’s a good workout and a lot of laughs.
Keeping it Consistent
The hardest part isn’t starting; it’s keeping it going. There were days when I just didn’t feel like it. But I pushed myself to do something, even if it was just a short walk. I tried to do at least 3-4 workouts per week.
I found that having a workout buddy helps. My neighbor and I started going for walks together, and it made it more enjoyable. Plus, we held each other accountable.
Results
After a few months, I started noticing changes. I felt stronger, had more energy, and even my mood improved. My clothes fit better, and I felt more confident overall.
It’s not about being the best; it’s about feeling your best. So, if you’re thinking about getting more active, just start somewhere. Every little bit counts. Trust me, your body will thank you!
That’s it. Hope it can help you guys somehow. I’m not good at writing but just want to share what I really experienced. Let’s do it together!
