Okay, so, I’ve always been that pale guy, you know? Like, I step out in the sun, and I practically reflect light. So, I figured, why not try a self-tanner? I mean, who doesn’t want that sun-kissed glow without actually frying your skin, right?
First things first, I started looking around for what self-tanner I should even use. Some people recommended using a gradual self-tan, but I wanted to be a little darker quicker, so I ended up going for the Dolce Glow Self-Tanning Mist. I saw some people talking about it online, and it seemed pretty straightforward, so, yeah, I ordered it.
When the package arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas. Ripped that thing open and there it was, my ticket to bronze-ville. But, before I went all in, I did a bit of research. Turns out, you gotta prep your skin first. So, I took a shower, exfoliated like my life depended on it, and shaved. Gotta get that smooth canvas, you know?
- Shower and exfoliate: Seriously, don’t skip this. I used a scrubby loofah thing to get rid of any dead skin.
- Shave: I heard that self-tanner can cling to hair, so I shaved my legs and arms to avoid any weird patches.
- Dry off completely: Water and self-tanner don’t mix, so I made sure I was bone dry before starting.
Here’s what I did:
Then came the moment of truth. I stood there in my bathroom, the Dolce Glow in hand, feeling a mix of excitement and, I’m not gonna lie, a little bit of fear. I’d heard horror stories of people turning orange or ending up with streaks everywhere. But, hey, no guts, no glory, right?
I started with my legs, spraying the mist from about six inches away and using long, sweeping motions. It was surprisingly easy to apply. The mist was fine, and it didn’t feel sticky or gross. I rubbed it in with my hands, making sure to blend it well around my ankles, knees, and feet. Those areas are notorious for looking weird if you’re not careful.
After my legs, I moved on to my arms, then my chest and stomach. The whole process took maybe 20 minutes? Not bad at all. Once I was done, I just stood there, waiting for it to dry. It didn’t take long, maybe 10 minutes, and it didn’t feel sticky like I had worried.
I waited a few hours, avoiding water like the plague, and then, boom. I looked in the mirror, and I was actually tan! It was a nice, natural-looking tan, too, not orange or fake-looking. I was pretty stoked, not gonna lie. Even my buddies noticed and they were giving me shoutouts for it.
So, yeah, that’s my self-tanner story. It was way easier than I thought it would be, and the results were actually pretty awesome. If you’re a pale dude like me, and you’re thinking about trying a self-tanner, I say go for it. Just make sure you prep your skin, choose a good product, and take your time applying it. You might just surprise yourself!
