Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to put together a proper handyman tools list for a while now. You know, just the essentials, the things you reach for all the time. I finally got around to it this weekend, and let me tell you, it was more involved than I thought it would be.
Started Simple
I started by just emptying out my toolbox and my tool bag onto the garage floor. What a mess! I had duplicates of some things, tools I hadn’t used in years, and some stuff I didn’t even recognize. I grabbed a notepad and started making a list of the basics – hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measure, level. You know, the usual suspects.
Then I got ambitious
- I moved on to sorting the rest. Separated the power tools from the hand tools. I realized I had way too many drill bits, so I weeded those out, keeping only the ones I use regularly.
- After that, I tackled the screws, nails, and all those little bits and bobs. I bought some of those plastic organizers with the little compartments. I must have spent hours sorting everything. It was kind of tedious, but also satisfying.
- While I was at it, I decided to clean all the tools. Some of them were pretty grimy. I wiped down everything, oiled the hinges on the pliers, and sharpened a few blades.
Finally Finished
Then I started putting everything back in the toolbox and the tool bag, all organized and neat. It felt good to have everything in its place. Finally, I typed up my tools list, all nice and organized. Now I have a handy reference for when I need to find something or if I want to add to my collection. It’s not a huge list, but it’s got all the essentials for tackling most jobs around the house. I am ready to get started with my projects and make some unique walls!
Man, it felt awesome to finally get that done! Now I can’t wait to start on my next project. Maybe I’ll build that. Hmmm…
