Okay, so, the other day I was scrolling through some fitness forums, just trying to find some new workout routines, you know, spice things up a bit. And I kept seeing this term, “cardio bunny.” I was like, what the heck is that? I mean, I get it, cardio… exercise, bunny… I guess someone who hops around a lot?
So, naturally, I hit up Google. Turns out, it’s kind of a slang thing. It’s used to describe someone, usually a girl, who just does tons of cardio at the gym. Like, they’re always on the treadmill or the elliptical, just going and going for hours. I started thinking, “Man, I hope they aren’t calling me that!”. Because I’ve definitely been trying to up my cardio game lately. Not for hours every time, but you know, more than I used to.
I even found this one thread where people were debating whether too much cardio is bad for you. You know, if you also lift weights, like I do. Some folks were saying that if you start doing more running or whatever, you’re not automatically a “cardio bunny” and it won’t make you lose all your muscle gains. Which is good, because I do lift.
My Workout Journey
So, here’s the thing. I’m not at the gym for hours every day, but I’ve got my routine. I decided to try and incorporate more cardio. It’s not just about looking good. I feel better when I do it. More energy, you know?
- Monday: I hit the gym, warm up a bit, and then do some weight training. Focus on legs and back. Afterward, I’ll hop on the treadmill for like, 30 minutes. Just a brisk walk, nothing crazy.
- Tuesday: This is my dedicated cardio day. I’ll go for a run outside, or if the weather’s bad, I’ll do the elliptical at the gym. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour.
- Wednesday: Rest day. I might take a walk but not a workout day.
- Thursday: Back to the gym. Weights again, this time arms and chest. Then another 30 minutes of cardio, maybe the bike this time.
- Friday: Another cardio-focused day. I might try a Zumba class or something, just to switch it up.
- Saturday: Weight training again, I usually focus on the shoulders.
- Sunday: Rest and have a good meal, sometimes a light walk.
So that’s it. That’s my usual week. I try to balance the weights and the cardio, and I’m feeling good. I am for sure not those “cardio bunnies” I saw at the gym, spending hours and hours there. But I also realized, it is not a bad thing. They got their goals, and I got mine. But I’m definitely not going to let anyone call me a “cardio bunny” as a way to put me down. I’m just trying to be healthy and feel good, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
In the end, I decided not to worry about the term. I guess being called a “cardio bunny” isn’t the worst thing in the world. I just kept doing my thing, mixing up my workouts, and trying to stay active. After all, it’s about what makes you feel good, right?
