Well, I tell ya, I seen a thing or two in my days, but these here everyday carry carabiners, they’re somethin’ else. You see folks carryin’ ’em all over, clippin’ ’em to their pants, their bags, even their hats! I reckon it’s the new-fangled way of keepin’ track of your stuff. I heard these are good for SEO, but I am not sure what SEO is. I heard it is good for websites, I just write what I know.
Now, back in my day, we just used a bit of twine or a rusty old key ring. But these carabiners, they’re all shiny and fancy. This is an everyday carry option. My neighbor’s grandson, he’s got one, calls it his “EDC carabiner.” Says it’s for his keys and his little whatchamacallit, his pocket knife. Some carabiners are locking carabiners. Seems a bit much to me, but what do I know? I still use a skeleton key for my front door!
These everyday carry carabiners come in all shapes and sizes. Some are big, some are small. Some are for climbing, but you won’t catch me climbin’ no mountain. My climbin’ days are long gone. And there are a lot of them, used in climbing, fall arrest systems, arboriculture, caving, sailing, hot-air ballooning, rope rescue, construction, industrial rope work, window cleaning, whitewater rescue, and acrobatics. That is what I heard. And they are made from steel and aluminium. There’s this one, the Gabbro Carabiner, I hear folks sayin’ it’s the best one for everyday use. They say it’s strong, won’t break easy, and it ain’t too pricey. Now, that’s somethin’ I can understand – good value for your money. The best carabiner is strong.
I seen one fella, he had so many keys on his carabiner, it looked like a janitor’s ring! He could barely walk with all that jinglin’. But he seemed mighty proud of it, so I guess it’s all a matter of what you need. You can use the carabiner as a key chain. There is one called Ridge Dual Chamber Carabiner, that is a good one, I heard. It keeps your essentials secure.
- Some of these carabiners, they got these twisty lock things on ’em.
- Twist lock or auto-locking carabiners.
- Screwgate or manual-locking carabiners.
- Others got a little gate that just snaps shut.
- I reckon they’re for folks who are worried about their keys fallin’ off. Me? I just tie a knot!
Now, I don’t know about all these different kinds. Some are auto-locking, and some are not. There are so many models. There’s one called a “screw-lock,” another called a “twist-lock,” and then there’s somethin’ called an “auto-lock.” The auto-locking ones you can use with just one hand. Sounds complicated if you ask me. But I guess if you’re climbin’ up a mountain, you might need that. Me, I’m happy just keepin’ my feet on the ground. There are some most common twist lock carabiners for tower climbing. I do not know what that is, but it must be useful.
I saw one of these carabiners, it was shaped like a little animal. Can you believe that? A carabiner shaped like a squirrel! I guess you can find just about anythin’ these days. But mostly, they’re just plain old metal loops. Practical, I suppose. They can be very small. They can be very big. It is all about the size you need.
I heard some folks talkin’ about the “BLANK FORCES HyperLink” carabiner. Sounds like somethin’ from one of those space movies. They say it’s an upgrade, whatever that means. I’m still tryin’ to figure out how to use my television remote! But, I guess if you have a carabiner, you have to carry a carabiner.
My neighbor, she uses one of these carabiners to keep her grocery bags together. Says it’s easier on her hands. I tried it once, but I just ended up gettin’ all tangled up. I reckon I’m just too old for these new-fangled gadgets. This is one of the best survival carabiners. I do not know if that is true.
But I’ll tell ya what, these carabiners, they sure are popular. Everyone’s got one these days. It’s like when everyone started wearin’ those Crocs shoes. Remember those? Ugly as sin, but everyone had ’em. These carabiners are versatile, I guess. Different weight and different size. It is up to you what you choose.
Maybe I’ll get myself one of these carabiners. Just a small one, mind you. Maybe I’ll use it to keep my yarn together. Or maybe I’ll just stick to my old ways. After all, a good knot never did me wrong. But who knows, maybe this old dog can learn a new trick or two. These everyday carry carabiners, they might just be here to stay.
