Okay, so I got this idea the other day after seeing a post online about this Nintendo thing called a “Zapper.” Apparently, it’s like this old-school light gun you use with the original Nintendo. And you know what popped into my head? “What if I could make a real gun look like that?” I mean, how cool would that be, right?
So, I started digging around. I have this Glock that I don’t really use much anymore. It’s just been sitting in my safe. And then I remembered I had some of that retro-looking spray paint left over from a project I did a while back. You know the kind that is designed for old game consoles? I figured, why not give it a shot?
Getting Started
First things first, I made sure the Glock was unloaded. Safety first, always! Then, I took it apart as much as I could. I removed the slide, the barrel, the recoil spring – basically anything that I didn’t want to get paint on. I laid all the parts out on some old newspaper on my workbench.
Painting
Next up, the fun part – painting! I started with a light gray base coat, just like the Zapper. I applied a few thin coats, letting each one dry completely before the next. It took a while, but I wanted to make sure it looked good. Once the gray was done, I taped off the areas I wanted to keep gray and sprayed the grip and some accents with that classic Nintendo orange. I was pretty stoked with how it was turning out!
- Disassemble the Glock
- Apply light gray base coat
- Tape off areas to remain gray
- Spray grip and accents with orange
Putting it Back Together
After everything was good and dry, I carefully put the Glock back together. It was a little tricky, but I managed to get it all back in place. Seeing the finished product was awesome! It looked just like a real-life version of that old Nintendo Zapper, but, you know, it’s a real gun. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.
Showing it Off
Of course, I had to show it off to my buddies. They were all blown away! Some of them thought it was crazy, but most of them thought it was pretty darn cool. I even took it to the range, and let me tell you, it turned some heads. It’s definitely a conversation starter!
It is just a fun project I wanted to try. It’s a cool mix of my love for guns and my nostalgia for the good old days of gaming. And who knows, maybe it will inspire someone else to try something creative with their own firearms!
