Man, shaving my head was something I put off for ages. I mean, I started noticing my hairline wasn’t what it used to be, and let’s be honest, it was getting harder to style it in a way that didn’t scream “I’m losing my hair!” So, I finally took the plunge and decided to go full bald. Now, the big question was: how often do I need to shave this thing to keep it looking sharp?
First off, I did some digging. The internet is full of advice, some saying you gotta shave every day, others saying once a week is fine. But, like, everyone’s different, right? My hair, when it was there, grew pretty fast, so I figured I’d be on the more frequent end of the shaving spectrum. I started off shaving every other day. I grabbed my clippers, lathered up my head with some shaving cream, and went to town. It felt weird at first, not gonna lie. But after a few times, I got the hang of it.
The first week, I noticed that two days after shaving, there’s stubble that starts to show. It didn’t look bad, but I wanted that smooth, clean look, so I started bumping it up to every two days and then sometimes every day. Yeah, it was more work, but I liked how it looked and felt. Plus, I got into a routine. Shaving my head became just another part of my morning, like brushing my teeth or making coffee. Now I would say it takes me ten or so minutes in the shower now when I first started it was taking more like 20 minutes.
Here’s the thing, though. Shaving every day or even every other day can be a bit harsh on the skin. I started noticing some irritation, especially around the back of my neck. So, I invested in a good moisturizer and after a couple times using it, the irritation got better. I also switched to a sensitive skin shaving cream, which helped a lot.
After a few weeks of experimenting, I found my sweet spot. Turns out, shaving two to three times a week is perfect for me. I get to keep that clean-shaven look without irritating my skin too much. Plus, it gives my scalp a bit of a break. On the days I don’t shave, I just make sure to keep my head moisturized and clean.
Honestly, I am really happy that I tried this out and now I can tell that I will not grow my hair back. If you’re thinking about shaving your head, just go for it. It’s a bit of trial and error to figure out what works best for you, but once you do, it’s pretty easy to maintain. Plus, you save a ton on shampoo! Just remember to take care of your scalp, and you’ll be rocking that bald look like a pro.
