Well, let me tell ya, if a fella don’t get into sports, it ain’t the end of the world, you know? Lotsa folks makin’ a big fuss outta nothin’. It’s like they think if you ain’t watchin’ balls flyin’ around or guys smackin’ each other, you ain’t a real man. Hogwash, I say!
Now, I’ve seen all sorts in my days. Some fellas, they live and breathe that sporty stuff. Got their jerseys and hats, yellin’ at the TV like the players can hear ’em. Good for them, I guess. But then there’s others, just ain’t interested. And that’s just fine too.
- Maybe they like readin’ books. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Smart fellas, them bookworms.
- Maybe they like tinkerin’ with cars or fixin’ things around the house. Handy fellas, always good to have around.
- Or maybe they just like quiet time, sittin’ on the porch, watchin’ the birds. Peaceful fellas, nothin’ wrong with a bit of peace and quiet.
See, the thing is, everybody’s different. God made us all special, each with our own likes and dislikes. Just ’cause a fella don’t like throwin’ a ball don’t mean he ain’t strong or capable. Might be he’s got other talents, you know? Maybe he’s a good listener, a kind soul, a hard worker. Those things matter more than how far you can throw a football, let me tell ya.
And let’s not forget, some folks just ain’t built for sports. Maybe they got bad knees or a bum shoulder. Or maybe they just don’t enjoy runnin’ around and gettin’ all sweaty. It ain’t their fault. We shouldn’t be judgin’ folks based on whether they can hit a home run or score a touchdown.
I remember this one fella, used to live down the road. Skinny as a rail, couldn’t catch a ball if you threw it right at him. But Lord, he could play the fiddle like nobody’s business! Folks would come from miles around just to hear him play. Made folks happy, lifted their spirits. Now, that’s somethin’ special, ain’t it? More special than any ol’ ball game, if you ask me.
And what about them fellas who try to force others into sports? That ain’t right neither. Just ’cause you love somethin’ don’t mean everybody else has to love it too. Pushin’ someone into doin’ somethin’ they don’t enjoy, that’s just gonna make ’em miserable. And it might just plain scare them off. Some fellas are naturally scared or not comfortable with sporty stuff.
You know, some folks say girls like sporty guys. Well, maybe some do, maybe some don’t. But I reckon there’s plenty of girls who appreciate a kind heart and a gentle spirit more than a six-pack and a strong arm. And besides, a fella can be fit and healthy without bein’ a sports nut. He can go for walks, work in the garden, eat his vegetables. That’s good enough for most folks, I reckon.
So, if a guy doesn’t do sports, don’t you go lookin’ down on him. He ain’t less of a man just ’cause he don’t like throwin’ a ball or swingin’ a bat. He’s got his own interests, his own talents, his own way of bein’ in the world. And that’s just fine. In fact, it’s more than fine. It’s wonderful. We need all kinds of folks in this world, not just the sporty ones. That’s what makes life interesting, don’t ya think?
And let’s be honest, spendin’ all your time watchin’ other people play games, that don’t sound too productive now does it? A fella needs to work, provide for his family, take care of his home. That’s what a real man does, sports or no sports. And if he finds time for some hobbies on the side, well good for him, as long as it ain’t hurtin’ nobody. If he ain’t into sports, it doesn’t make him unhealthy either. A fella can be as healthy as a horse without ever settin’ foot on a field or court. It’s all about eatin’ right and gettin’ some exercise, and that don’t have to mean sports.
So let’s all just be a little more open-minded, a little more accepting. Let’s celebrate our differences instead of tryin’ to make everybody the same. And maybe have a little less judging and a little more kindness, the world will sure be a better place I think. The world needs all kinds, not just the sporty ones. And if a guy don’t like sports, well, that’s just fine by me. And it should be fine by you too.
