Okay, so yesterday I finally got around to making that half graff glide backpack I’ve been planning. I gotta say, it took a bit longer than I expected, but it was totally worth it.
First, I gathered all the materials. I picked up this white faux leather a while back, and I knew it would be perfect for this project. It’s got a real clean and modern vibe to it. I also needed some zippers, straps, and a few other bits and pieces, which I already had lying around from other projects.
Then I started cutting out the pieces. I used a pattern I sketched out a few days ago. It’s a pretty simple design, but I wanted to make sure I got the dimensions right. Cutting the faux leather was a bit tricky, it’s kinda thick, but I managed.
- Front zipper pocket – check.
- Side pockets – check.
- Zippered stash pocket – check.
After that, I started sewing. I sewed the front zipper pocket first, then the side pockets. I added a zippered stash pocket on the back panel for extra security. I even managed to include a separate compartment lined with this soft velour material – great for sunglasses or a phone.
Next, I attached the straps. I made them adjustable, ’cause you never know who might end up using this backpack. I tested them out a few times to make sure they were secure and comfortable.
The last step was to sew everything together. This was probably the most challenging part, but I took my time and made sure all the seams were strong and neat. I also added a slide-through sleeve on the back, so you can easily attach it to your carry-on luggage. Super handy for traveling!
Finished Product
And boom! I finished it. It looks pretty awesome if I do say so myself. The white faux leather gives it a really sleek look, and all the pockets and compartments make it super functional. I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I can’t wait to start using it. I also printed some metallic patterns on the faux leather and it makes this backpack look really unique and stylish. It’s really a classic design and a good backpack.
I also tested the backpack’s capacity yesterday, and it turned out that it can fit my laptop well! It is such a surprise.
All in all, this was a fun and rewarding project. If you’re thinking about making your own backpack, I say go for it! Just be prepared to spend some time on it, and don’t be afraid to get creative.
