So, Christmas is just around the corner, and I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what to get my managers. I mean, these are the folks who keep us all in line and make sure the ship stays afloat, you know? Gotta show them some appreciation.
I started by, well, just thinking about what they’re like. Are they into fancy stuff, or are they more practical? Do they have any hobbies? I even tried to subtly ask around the office, hoping to pick up some clues without being too obvious. It’s like being a detective, but for gifts.
Brainstorming and Ideas
Then came the brainstorming part. I made a list of all the usual suspects: gift cards, fancy pens, desk organizers, the works. But I wanted something a bit more personal, something that says “I actually put some thought into this.”
- Gift Cards: I thought about gift cards. An Amazon gift card, it’s always a safe bet, right? They can get whatever they want, whether it’s for work or just something fun. Or a gift card to a nice restaurant or a coffee shop. Who doesn’t love a free meal or a caffeine boost?
- Personalized Items: I also looked into getting something personalized. Maybe a mug with their name on it, or a custom-made bobblehead. Just kidding about the bobblehead, but you get the idea.
- Books: I also browsed through some books on Amazon. Maybe there’s a new management book out there, or a biography of someone they admire.
The Decision
After much deliberation, I decided to go with a combination of things. For one of my managers, who’s always super organized, I got a really sleek desk organizer set. I figured it would help him keep his workspace tidy, plus it looks pretty cool.
For the other, who’s a bit of a foodie, I went with a gift basket filled with gourmet snacks and a gift card to a local restaurant that just opened up. I thought that would be a nice treat for them to enjoy outside of work.
The Result
I wrapped everything up nicely, added a little handwritten note to each, and left them on their desks early in the morning before they got in. Later that day, both of them came up to me with big smiles, thanking me for the gifts. They seemed genuinely touched, which made me feel really good.
It’s not about how much you spend, but the thought you put into it. It was a good reminder that a little appreciation can go a long way, especially during the holiday season.
