Okay, so I saw this “1000 Pound Challenge” thing making the rounds and figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, I’ve been hitting the gym pretty regularly, and it sounded like a fun way to test my strength. So, here’s how it went down.
First off, this wasn’t just your usual bench, squat, and deadlift. We’re talking about four lifts, and the last one is a “wild card” – basically, you pick your favorite lift. Sounded kinda cool. I got pretty hyped up.
Getting Started
So I started, there’s this target weight tier stuff you gotta pick. But I just wanted to see how much I could do total.
I started out with the push press. I loaded up the bar with a plate on each side, which I can do, you know, without too much trouble. I warmed up a bit, got my grip right, and went for it. Got it up! Felt pretty good, actually. That was the first one down.
Moving On
Next up was the back squat. I’ve been working on these a lot lately. I slapped on a couple of plates, did a few warm-up sets, and then went for my max. It was a grind, man. I really had to push myself. But I got it! That was a big confidence boost, to be honest.
- Push Press: nailed it with one plate.
- Back Squat: way tougher, but got it done.
The Big One
Then came the deadlift. This one’s always a beast. I loaded up the bar with what I thought I could handle. Took a deep breath, got my form right, and pulled. It was heavy, no doubt about it. My back was screaming, legs were shaking, but I kept pulling. And I got it up! Felt like I conquered the world for a second there. I did a few warm-up sets and added a couple more plates on there.
The Wild Card
Finally, the “wild card” lift. I chose the bench press, since I’m pretty comfortable with it. By this point, I was feeling it, I was getting tired. But I was so close! I loaded up the bar, got my spotter ready, and went for it. It wasn’t pretty, but I managed to push it up. And that was it! I did it! Finished the whole challenge, it was a good feeling.
Wrapping Up
I added up all the weight from each lift, and guess what? I didn’t just hit 1000 pounds, I went way over! I was so pumped! It was a tough challenge, but totally worth it. It’s a great feeling to see all that hard work pay off. I was sore for days after, but hey, no pain, no gain, right? If you’re looking for a challenge, I definitely recommend giving this one a try. Just make sure you train for it, and listen to your body. It’s no joke!
It’s not just about the weight, either. It’s about pushing yourself, seeing what you’re capable of. And it’s a pretty cool feeling to accomplish something you weren’t sure you could do. So yeah, that’s my 1000 pound challenge story. Hope you enjoyed it!
