Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about the workout Alicia Vikander did for Tomb Raider, and I got curious. I mean, who wouldn’t want to look like Lara Croft, right? So, I decided to give it a shot, or at least, my own version of it.
I started digging around, trying to find out what exactly she did. Turns out, she gained 12 pounds of muscle! Now, I wasn’t aiming to bulk up that much, but the idea of getting stronger was definitely appealing.
From what I gathered, her training involved a lot of strength training, and she ate tons of food to fuel her body. I’m not a big weight lifter, so I decided to focus on bodyweight exercises.
My Starting Point
- First thing I did was clear out a space in my living room. No fancy gym equipment for me!
- I started with some basic stuff like push-ups, squats, and lunges. Man, those lunges are killer!
- I also did planks. Holding those for even a minute felt like an eternity at first.
Then I upped the ante. I started doing more reps, more sets. I found some variations of push-ups online, like incline and decline, to work different muscles. I did the same for squats and lunges, experimenting with different stances and adding pulses. It was tough, I won’t lie. My muscles were screaming at me some days. But I kept pushing, reminding myself of Lara Croft scaling those cliffs and fighting bad guys.
I also mixed things up with some cardio. I love running, so I tried to do that a couple of times a week. On other days, I’d do some jumping jacks, burpees (ugh, burpees), and high knees. Anything to get my heart pumping.
Food-wise, I didn’t follow any strict diet. But I did try to eat more protein to help my muscles recover and grow. Lots of chicken, fish, eggs, and tofu. And I made sure to eat plenty of veggies and fruits to stay healthy. I definitely noticed I had more energy throughout the day.
Progress
- After a few weeks, I started noticing changes. My arms looked more toned, my legs felt stronger, and I could hold a plank for longer than a minute!
- I felt great too. More energy, better sleep, and just overall more confident.
- It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it.
Now, I’m not saying I look like Alicia Vikander now, but I definitely feel more like Lara Croft. I’m stronger, fitter, and more capable. This whole experience has shown me that you don’t need fancy equipment or a strict diet to get in shape. Just some dedication, hard work, and a little bit of inspiration from a badass video game character. I kept at it, and now I can see the results in the mirror and feel them in my body. It’s pretty awesome, to be honest. This journey is far from over, though. I’m excited to see how much further I can push myself.
