Alright, let’s talk about this “every day carry” thing, or whatever you young folks call it. Every day carry tools? Sounds fancy, but it’s just the stuff you lug around all the time, you know?
What’s in my bag, you ask? Well, first off, there’s my phone. Can’t live without it these days. Gotta call my kids, and those grandkids, they always wanna chat. And sometimes I play that Candy Crush game, keeps me busy.
Then, there’s my wallet. It ain’t one of those fancy slim ones, mind you. It’s big and bulky, got room for all my cards, some cash, and those little pictures of the family. You know, the ones from the photo booth at the mall? Gotta carry those, reminds me of the good times.
- Phone – Gotta stay connected, y’know?
- Wallet – Where else I gonna keep my money and pictures?
- Keys – Can’t get into the house without ‘em!
Keys, of course. Big ol’ keyring, got keys for the house, the car, and that shed out back. Always jingle-jangling in my bag. Sometimes I think I sound like a cow with a bell around its neck, clanging all over the place.
Now, some folks, they carry knives. Little ones, big ones, all sorts. Me? I got a small pair of scissors in my bag. Handy for cutting coupons, opening packages, snip-snipping threads. Never know when you might need a pair of scissors, I tell ya. More useful than a knife, if you ask me. Less scary too.
And a flashlight? You betcha! Especially in the winter, when it gets dark so early. Gotta have a flashlight to see where you’re going, don’t wanna trip and break a hip. Got one of those small ones, fits right in my purse. Bright as a button, too.
I see these youngins with all sorts of gadgets. Little multi-tools, fancy pens, all that jazz. Me? I keep it simple. Phone, wallet, keys, scissors, and a flashlight. That’s all a body needs, really.
Sometimes I carry a small notebook and a pen. Gotta jot things down, y’know? Grocery lists, appointments, reminders to call people. My memory ain’t what it used to be, gotta write things down or I forget ‘em. Simple little notebook, fits right in my purse with everything else.
And let’s not forget about tissues! Always gotta have tissues. For runny noses, spills, whatever. You never know when you’ll need a tissue, and it’s always good to be prepared. I keep a small pack in my purse, and a bigger one in the car. Can’t have too many tissues, that’s what I always say.
Now, where do I get all this stuff? Well, some of it’s from the store, of course. But some of it… well, you gotta look around. You know those flea markets? They got all sorts of things. And sometimes, you can find a good deal on eBay. Yeah, even an old lady like me knows about eBay. My grandson showed me how to use it. You can find just about anything on there, it’s like a big ol’ online yard sale.
Speaking of eBay, it’s a good place to find everyday carry items. They have everything from wallets to flashlights to knives. And the prices are usually pretty good. Of course, you gotta be careful, not everything on there is what it seems. But if you do your research, you can find some real bargains. So, if you’re looking for something specific, or just want to browse, eBay is worth checking out.
So, that’s my “every day carry.” Nothing fancy, just the essentials. The things I need to get through the day. It’s not about having the latest gadgets or the most expensive gear. It’s about having the things that are useful to you, the things that make your life a little bit easier. And that’s all that matters, right? Being prepared, that’s the key. Just like my grandma always said, “Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.” And she was a smart woman, my grandma.
So, next time you’re packing your bag, think about what you really need. Don’t get caught up in all the hype, just carry what’s important to you. And don’t forget a tissue! You never know when you might need one.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some dinner. Got a hankering for some meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Now that’s some real comfort food, right there. Better than all these fancy gadgets any day.
