I started this whole thing because I was bored, I saw a Nintendo Zapper, you know, that old-school light gun for duck hunt. And I thought, “What if I could combine this with a real Glock?” A crazy idea, yeah, but I was itching to try something new. First thing I did was grab a Glock 23, a nice Gen 4, which is solid and reliable. Then came the fun part: I got both a third-party Zapper and an official Nintendo one. The goal? To make my Glock look exactly like the Zapper.
I carefully took apart the Zappers, figuring out how to fit the Glock’s slide and barrel into the Zapper’s plastic shell. Let me tell you, it was tricky. Lots of cutting, sanding, and fitting. But I was determined to make it look seamless, like it came from the factory that way. It was a long, messy process, with plastic and metal shavings everywhere. Finally, after hours of work, I managed to get the Glock mechanism fitted inside the Zapper shell. I was sweating bullets, hoping I hadn’t messed up my Glock in the process.
Next up, the paint job. I wanted to give it that classic Nintendo Zapper look, so I went with a Duracoat finish. It’s tough stuff, durable, and gives it that authentic look. I carefully painted all the parts, making sure to match the colors perfectly. After letting it dry, I put it all back together. It felt like I was building a model, but way more intense. I even kept the original case, just to make it look extra legit.
When I finally finished, I just stood there, looking at it. It was a real Glock, but it looked just like a Nintendo Zapper. I was so proud of how it turned out. It’s not just a gun; it’s a piece of art, a conversation starter. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for me, it was a project that pushed my skills and gave me something unique to show off.
I even took it to the range to test it out. It works perfectly, just like any other Glock, but with that awesome Zapper look. It’s a bit of a head-turner, for sure. People were giving me all sorts of looks, but I didn’t care. I had created something special, something that combined my love for firearms and my nostalgia for old-school video games.
